UES Ladies’ Night

May 19, 2011

What’s the best way to beat the mid-week blues? Good friends, good food and, of course, good booze.

After checking out the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met –AMAZING shoes, not-so-amazing overcrowding — on my most recent visit to New York, my friends and I decided to have a girls’ night out on the Upper East Side. Wednesday proved to be the perfect day, with local restaurants and bars offering some fabulous specials.

Hi Life Restaurant & Lounge, 1503 2nd Avenue
This swanky spot offers $5 champagne cocktails on Wednesdays during their 4-7 happy hour. It’s hard to go wrong with bubbly, and the drinks here are no exception. The Champagne Continental is a mix of champagne, Ketel One and strawberry puree –the ultimate girly drink.

Brother Jimmy’s BBQ, 1485 2nd Avenue
Avoid the crowds at Blockhead’s and head to Brother Jimmy’s instead: their happy hour includes $2 frozen margaritas!

Gina la Fornarina, 1575 2nd Avenue
When you’re ready to refuel, head to Gina la Fornarina for some delicious Italian cuisine. The restaurant is decked out with hot pink accents and serves up a spectacular white sangria in addition to pizza and pasta plates.

Stumble Inn, 1454 2nd Avenue
When everyone else’s happy hour ends at 7, Stumble Inn’s Wednesday night ladies’ night is just beginning. That means $2 pints –of any beer on tap– just for being female! Not a fan of beer? Wednesday is also $3 lemon drop shot night.
