Beauty Addiction: Brazilian Blowout
The Brazilian Blowout isn’t anything new, but it still amazes me that I have friends who have yet to try it. For anyone who spends 45 minutes every morning with their blow dryer and straightener (this was me pre-blowout), the treatment is truly a life-changing miracle formula. The original blowout uses a “polymer system” (not sure what that even means, but hey, it works!) to coat the hair and reduce frizz. The entire process, which involves a lot of washing, drying and straightening, takes about an hour and a half to do, but it leaves your hair shiny, soft and frizz free.
My curly-haired friends say this is not the best treatment for them, but if you’re somewhere in the wavy to curly realm like me, the Blowout will suit you perfectly. It now takes me 15-20 minutes to do my hair, less if I let it air dry first. Unlike Japanese straightening, the treatment slowly washes out in about three months and doesn’t completely get rid of your natural wave, so you won’t get that weird curly roots/ straight ends look.
Today I got a Keratin Complex Smoothing Treatment at the Beverly Hills Color Bar Salon (thanks Groupon), a treatment that supposedly can last up to six months and has the same effects as a Brazilian Blowout, but uses less harmful chemicals. The only downside is you can’t get your hair wet for 72 hours –totally putting a cramp in my beach and pool party Memorial Day Weekend plans — but I’m sure it will be worth it!
