24 Hours in San Diego

May 8, 2013

Last weekend I took a girls’ trip to San Diego, and even though we were only there for a short while, we really made the most of our time. It felt like a real vacay — complete with lots of girl talk and champagne.

Tourist time: San Diego Zoo
Although it wasn’t my first time in San Diego, it was my first time at the zoo there, and I was VERY excited to see the pandas and giraffes. Know before you go: save $5 on admission with a AAA card!

Eat: Basic Pizza
Being from New York, I am incredibly picky about my pizza, and this place proves that you can actually find good pizza in SoCal. Not only is the food delicious {seriously salivating thinking about it right now}, but it’s also really inexpensive. And it’s a bar/restaurant so the whole place has a cool vibe.

Drink: Quality Social
This restaurant transforms into a loungey place after dinner hours, complete with a DJ and a dancefloor — though the dancefloor is somewhat small.

Brunch: The Hopping Pig
While this place has a pretty limited brunch menu {it included chilaquilles, so that was good enough for me} it does have $3 mimosas!

Chill: The Westin San Diego
There was no better end to the weekend than relaxing in our hotel’s hot tub with some champagne, surrounded by an awesome view of downtown.
