Summer Polish
Now that June gloom is over and it’s finally starting to feel like summer in SoCal, it’s time to embrace bolder, brighter shades of nail polish. Store the so-fall grays that you’ve been wearing all year away and stock up on these new on-trend polishes:
Yellow
This appropriately sunny color has been spotted on numerous celebs, including Rihanna and Natalie Portman. If you dare to go bright, try China Glaze nail polish in Electric Pineapple ($6.99), Deborah Lippmann nail polish in Yellow Brick Road ($16) or Love & Beauty nail polish in Sparkling Lemonade ($2.80) for some extra shimmer.
Coral
Coral is the season-appropriate version of the classic red nail. Try Essie’s California Coral ($8), Deborah Lippman’s Girls Just Want to Have Fun –arguably the hottest shade of the summer– ($16) or Love & Beauty nail polish in Fiesta Coral.
Blue
It’s been a while since it’s been socially acceptable to rock bright blue nail polish, but this fun, unconventional nail color is back and has been seen everywhere from runways to red carpets. Channel breezy blue beaches with Essie’s Mesmerized ($8), Love & Beauty’s Nirvana ($2.80) or YSL La Laque in Turquoise Blue ($20).
Nude
Need a break from the brights? Go ultra-neutral in nude polish, perfect if you want a low-maintenance manicure that won’t show chipping. Create the illusion of nearly-naked nails with OPI nail polish in Skull & Glossbones ($8.50) or Essie’s Fed Up ($8).
